Travel Information

 Visas
Nationals of most countries, including all EU countries, North America and Australia,
do not require a visa to enter Israel. Nationals of some other countries do require a visa
to enter. If you travel with a passport of a country not mentioned above, you may need
to apply for a tourist visa at your nearest Israeli consulate. Please consult

Covid19
You will have to show proof of at least a second vaccination. Please also make sure you are
equipped with a face mask at all times. Regulations regarding entry to Israel are dynamic
and vary according to the current situation. Please make sure to you comply with
requirements shortly prior to departure. Please consult

Currency
The currency in Israel is Shekel (ILS). Most businesses, transportation etc. accept only
Shekels. Check rate at any Currency Conversion website.

Transportation
Train tickets are payable by credit card. To ride a bus, local or intercity,
you need a pre-loaded card called RAV KAV, purchasable in train stations
and in many stores.

Trains from the airport
The trip from Ben Gurion airport to Haifa lasts apx 1:15 hrs. Currently trains do not run
at night and weekends (Friday afternoon and Saturday). Otherwise, they do run between
5:38 in the morning and 21:44 at night, approximately every half hour. Check itineraries a
https://www.rail.co.il/en. Get off at the HAIFA HOF HAKARMEL station, exit the station on
the ground level, where you will see Taxis (do not descend stairs to a different exit).
Take a taxi to your hotel. Inquire at your hotel regarding buses to the Technion.
We will provide a shuttle service from one or two hotels if enough people stay there.

Important: If you have to (night arrival) or prefer to take a taxi from the airport to Haifa,
we recommend Taxi Nisim. Pre-reserve at the cost of 380 ILS (+ 20 ILS if you pay by credit card),
for up to four passengers. You will receive the driver’s details and he will wait for you at the airport
with a sign (your name in English). Mention in your reservation that you are a Technion visitor.

Electricity    
The current in Israel is 220-240V, 50H.
Plugs are round, two or three pronged (w/without grounding).
You may need a convertor for your appliances.
